Kunal Majumder, alumni of Convergent Journalism (MA 2009) and Senior Correspondent of Tehelka accepting the Statesman Award for Rural Reporting 2010 from I&B Minister Ambika Soni on 16-Sep-2011 at Kolkata. This is Kunal's second journalism prize. In March 2011, he won the UNDP-Laadli Award for Gender Sensitivity.

Awarded for his story on the child miners in Meghalaya, the citation says: "Tehelka's fearless correspondent Kunal Majumder followed a few of the 70,000-odd children who spend their golden years in the claustrophobic and dangerous rat mines of Meghalaya to earn just about enough to see another day"

A final year student of M.A. Convergent Journalism, AJK Mass Communication Research Centre Ratnendra K. Pandey has won United Press International Freelance contest. Ratnendra’s story Paper Mill leads India’s eco-friendly movement is reported from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh and published at UPI’s website. His story idea was selected as the best idea.
